Interesting fact
The Sikyon Stater was one of the first coins to feature a portrait of a deity. The obverse side of the coin features a depiction of the Greek goddess Athena, while the reverse side features an image of a grapevine. This coin was minted during a time when the city-state of Sikyon was experiencing significant cultural and economic growth, and the use of Athena's image on the coin may have been intended to symbolize the city's connection to the broader Greek world.
