Interesting fact

The Sikyon Stater was one of the first coins to feature a portrait of a deity. The obverse side of the coin features a depiction of the goddess Hera, making it one of the earliest examples of a coin with a religious image. This was a significant departure from earlier coins, which typically featured abstract designs or symbols. The inclusion of a deity on the coin may have been a way for the city-state of Sikyon to express its political and cultural identity, as well as to promote the worship of Hera.
