Interesting fact
The Sikyon Stater was one of the first coins to feature a portrait of a deity. The obverse side of the coin features a depiction of the goddess Athena, while the reverse side features an image of a grapevine. This coin was minted during a time when the city-state of Sikyon was experiencing significant cultural and economic growth, and the use of Athena's image on the coin may have been a way to symbolize the city's connection to the broader Greek world.
