Comment

This is perhaps the first type of Safavid larin to be struck with a special long die to suit the odd shape of the coin. The mint is rarely visible, but they were minted in a number of Iranian mints.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Larin - Tahmasp I ND (1524-1576) coin from Iran is that it features a unique blend of Islamic and Persian designs on its obverse and reverse sides. The obverse side features the name of the ruler, Tahmasp I, in Persian script, while the reverse side features a stylized representation of the Islamic crescent moon and star. This blend of designs reflects the cultural and religious influences of the time and adds to the coin's historical significance.
