Comment

The mint and year are almost never present, and the ruler's name is usually missing too. This has been described by Stephen Album as the second type or larin coin, and is datable to Isma'il I's reign through the thickness of the flan and the design of the coin die with which it has been stamped. This were very important coins in the trade between Lar, Iran, and Hormuz, and would soon spread as far as the west coast of India.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Larin - Isma'il I (second type) ND (1515-1524) coin from Iran is that it features a unique blend of Islamic and Persian designs on its obverse and reverse sides. The obverse side features the name of the mint city, "Isfahan," in bold, Arabic script, while the reverse side showcases an intricate floral pattern that is typical of Persian art. This blend of styles reflects the cultural and artistic exchange that occurred during the Safavid dynasty, which ruled Iran from 1501 to 1736.
