Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 500 Réis - Pedro II coin is that it was issued during a time of great economic change in Portugal. The coin was introduced in 1688, and it's mintage was increased significantly during the reign of King Pedro II, who ruled from 1683 to 1706. This increase in mintage was done to address the growing need for currency in the Portuguese colonies, particularly in Brazil, which was experiencing rapid economic growth during this period. The coin's design, featuring the king's portrait and the Portuguese coat of arms, was also updated during this time to reflect the changing political and economic landscape of Portugal.
