The stamp "Crowned SOO" also exists: Gomes#A6 44Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during a time of great change in Portugal. King Afonso VI was deposed in 1662 and his brother, King Pedro II, took the throne. This coin was minted in 1663, during the transition between the two monarchs, and features a countermark of a crowned "500" over the Cruzado symbol, which was used to indicate the coin's value. This countermark was added to existing coins to prevent them from being melted down for their silver content, and it is a unique feature of this particular coin.
