Festival of national tourist interest, "The Sanfermines" have an origin that goes back several centuries, although its worldwide fame is a recent phenomenon, linked to the dissemination given by the writer Ernest Hemingway in his book "Fiesta". It is a question of singular celebrations and, without a doubt, the event for which Pamplona is best known in the rest of the world. The festivities begin with the launching of the txupinazo or chupinazo (rocket) from the balcony of Pamplona City Hall at 12 noon on July 6 and end at 24 hours on July 14 with the "Pobre de mí", a song by farewell. The enclosures take place every day between July 7 and 14 and begin at eight in the morning, with an average duration of two to three minutes and a route of 849 meters in front of the bulls through the historic center of the city.Interesting fact
The Pamplona 5 Euro silver coin from Spain, minted in 2010, features a unique design that commemorates the famous San Fermín bull-running festival, which takes place annually in Pamplona. The coin's reverse side depicts a dynamic image of a bull runner, while the obverse side bears the effigy of King Juan Carlos I. This coin is a sought-after collector's item, not only for its intricate design but also for its rarity, as only 5,000 coins were minted.
