Comment

Municipal Palace: Baroque administrative building built in the eighteenth century, is now the headquarters of the Town Hall of Alicante, also called Municipal Palace. It is a rectangular building, with a symmetrical main façade, composed of a central body of three floors flanked by two towers of higher height at the ends, through which communication is carried out by means of passages between the Town Hall squares and of the Holy Face, where it is located. At the foot of the main staircase is the so-called "cota cero", a reference point that is used to measure the altitude above sea level of any point in Spain.

Interesting fact

The Alicante 5 Euro silver coin from Spain, minted in 2010, features a unique design that showcases the beauty of the Alicante region. The coin's reverse side depicts the iconic Castle of Santa Bárbara, which sits atop a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The castle's history dates back to the 14th century, and it has been a symbol of Alicante's rich cultural heritage for centuries. The coin's obverse side features the effigy of King Juan Carlos I, who reigned Spain from 1975 until his abdication in 2014. This coin is a collector's item and is not meant for circulation, making it a rare and valuable addition to any coin collection.
