KM NOTE: In the Krause Catalogs, KM 1324 refers to the Cloister of San Jeronimo and not the Yuste Monastery. Taking into account that the rest of the KM's of the series and the 5 Euro coins of 2014 are correctly related, and that the Monastery of Yuste belonged to the Order of Saint Jerome, it can be understood that the KM 1324 really refers to the Monastery of Yuste.

Patrimonio Nacional is the denomination received in Spain by the public body, dependent on the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Equality, dedicated to the care and maintenance of assets historically linked to the Crown of Spain.
The monastery of Yuste is a monastery and palace house in which Carlos I of Spain stayed and died after his abdication. The current convent was rebuilt on the ruins of the old monastery that served as residence for the emperor in the last two years of his life (1556-1558). It was declared in 2007 as European Heritage.
