Comment

The Puerta de Palmas is one of the most representative monuments of the city of Badajoz. Located in front of the bridge of the same name, it is formed by two crenellated towers and a central body. The towers are circular in shape and are encircled by cords carved in stone. The central body has two completely different facades. The exterior, with double semicircular arch and made of marble, contains the shield of Carlos V, medallions and decorative figures. The interior, remodeled in 1960, is presided by the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels.

Interesting fact

The Badajoz 5 Euro silver coin from Spain, minted in 2011, features a unique design that showcases the city's historic landmarks, including the Badajoz Cathedral and the Puente de Palmas bridge.
