Coloured coin and stamp set - Toronto Argonauts (2012)The rich history of the Toronto Argonauts* is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the celebrations surrounding the 100th edition of the Grey Cup®. The 1950 Grey Cup match, nicknamed the Mud Bowl, is legendary not only for the players who took part, but also for the conditions on the pitch. Snowy, rainy weather and a muddy pitch, disfigured by the heavy machinery used to clear it, forced players from the Toronto and Winnipeg teams to exercise their art on a playing surface that was difficult because it was completely soaked. In the end, Toronto took the Grey Cup with a 13-0 victory, the last shutout in a championship game.
The commemorative 25-cent coin also salutes the Argonauts' 15 Grey Cup victories in 21 championship final appearances since 1911.
