Date of issue: 22 MAR 1994Nikolai Vasileyvich Gogol (April 1, 1809-March 4 (February 21), 1852) - a famous Russian writer. He is the author of several stories, such as "Mirgorod", "The Nose" and "Nevsky Prospekt", the comedies "The Inspector-General" and "The Wedding", the novel "Dead Souls" and a collection of religious and philosophical essays, entitled "Selected Places from Correspondence with Friends".
