Date of issue: 02 FEB 1994Ivan Andreyevich Krylov (February 13 (2), 1769-November 21 (9), 1844) - a Russian fabulist and publisher. A member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences since 1841, he wrote more than 200 fables, which another famous Russian writer, Nikolai Gogol, called "a book of our people's wisdom". Krylov also wrote tragedies, comedies and librettos.
