The commemorative coin is dedicated to Vasyl Andriiovych Symonenko, a poet, prose writer and journalist, who held deservedly an important position within the Pleiad of the 'shestydesiatnyky' (sixtiers). The poet's work played a significant role in the Ukrainian literature of the XXth century and is a model of high civic consciousness.
