Comment
Part of the eventually rejected 1949 patterns for the first issue of Independent Indian Coins post Independence. There are two known types of three Anna Peacock patterns in Copper-Nickel and one in Brass. Not to be confused with very similar coin that possess stars on outside and extra detail.
Interesting fact
The Pattern 2 Annas coin was designed by the renowned Indian artist, Jamini Roy, who was known for his unique style of blending traditional Indian motifs with modernist techniques. The coin features a stunning image of a horse and rider on the obverse side, while the reverse side bears the national emblem of India, a lion standing on the Ashoka Chakra, surrounded by the words "India" and "Annas" in English and Hindi respectively. The use of copper-nickel in the coin's minting process adds to its unique character and historical significance, making it a highly sought-after collector's item among numismatists and history enthusiasts.
