Part of the eventually rejected 1949 patterns for the first issue of Independent Indian Coins post Independence. Very similar 2 Anna does exist without stars on outside and lotus detail.
Interesting fact
The Pattern 2 Annas coin was designed by the renowned Indian artist and sculptor, Chittaranjan Das. Das was known for his work in the Bengal School of Art and was commissioned by the Indian government to design the coin. His design features a unique blend of Indian and Western elements, with stars and detailing that give the coin a distinctive look.
