Eladio Dieste (Dec. 1st., 1917- July 29th., 2000) was an Uruguayan engineer, famous for his designs of several buildings, using think roofs, whose strength derived of its shape, with complicated catenaria curves. His main masterpiece, the Atlántida Church, also known as “Cristo Obrero” (Worker Christ), place at Atlántida, a beach city to East from Montevideo was named as World Heritage by UNESCO on 2021.
Created as circulating (commemorative) coin by Law# 20.044 from June 7th., 2022, and demonetized by BCU Directory decision D-357-2023 from November 8th., 2023, to “protect their numismatic value”.
