Interesting fact
The 1 Thaler coin from the Principality of Mecklenburg, minted in 1549 during the reign of John Albert I, was made of silver and features a unique design. On one side, it depicts the coat of arms of Mecklenburg, while on the other side, it shows a crowned eagle holding a shield with the inscription "S.P.Q.R.M." (Senatus Populusque Rostochiensis), which stands for "Senate and People of Rostock." This coin is a rare example of a silver thaler from the German States during the 16th century and is highly sought after by collectors.
