Interesting fact
The 1 Thaler coin from the Principality of Mecklenburg, minted in 1549 during the reign of John Albert I, was made of silver and featured an image of the prince on one side and the Mecklenburg coat of arms on the other. The coin was used as a standard circulation coin in the German States and was valued at 1/4 of a Reichsthaler, which was the standard unit of account in the Holy Roman Empire at the time.
