Comment

A rare and possibly unique issue often listed as a “Pattern Mule”, this coin is a combination of the modernised Rupee Reverse paired with an enlarged variant of the second Issue King Edward Straits Settlements Half Dollar. Possibly Unique, like the other such pairing, this may have been made for an important person from the mint. This is classed generally as a pattern (as it may be a variant to test a crowned portrait of the King, something that was scheduled to be introduced shortly before his passing). The picture coin is an original, and not a restrike.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it is a rare mule coin, meaning it combines the obverse (front) of one coin and the reverse (back) of another coin, which makes it a unique and highly sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
