Interesting fact
The Pattern 1 Rupee coin was designed by George William De Saulles, who was the Chief Engraver at the Royal Mint in London. He also designed several other coins for various countries, including the famous 1903 Edward VII Penny. The Pattern 1 Rupee coin features a portrait of King Edward VII on the obverse and a depiction of the Lion Capital of Ashoka on the reverse. The coin was minted in 1910, but it was never circulated and is considered a rare and valuable collector's item.
