Comment

Segarra de Gaià is currently called Santa Coloma de Queralt.
The realization of this second issue of copper and copper-nickel coins (popularly called "segarretes") was entrusted to the company "Metalls Vidua de Salvador Solà" from Barcelona and it was the one that supplied the material and had them minted in the company " Fidel Armadons" of Barcelona.
There are counterfeit coins of this issue.
In Standard Catalog of Worl Coins 1901-2000, mintage mintage is wrong, since it indicates 20,000 units and 5,000 were actually issued.

Interesting fact

The 1 Peseta coin from Segarra de Gaià (Province of Tarragona) made of Copper weighing 3.5g was minted in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. The coin was issued by the Republican government, which controlled the area where the coin was minted. The coin's design features a woman's head on the obverse side and a tree on the reverse side. The coin was used as a means of payment during a time of great economic and political instability in Spain.
