Comment

Segarra de Gaià is currently called Santa Coloma de Queralt.
The realization of this second issue of copper and copper-nickel coins (popularly called "segarretes") was entrusted to the company "Metalls Vidua de Salvador Solà" from Barcelona and it was the one that supplied the material and had them minted in the company " Fidel Armadons" of Barcelona.
There are counterfeit coins of this issue.
In Standard Catalog of Worl Coins 1901-2000, mintage is wrong, since it indicates 30,000 units and 5,000 were actually issued.

Interesting fact

The 1 Peseta coin from Segarra de Gaià (Province of Tarragona) was minted in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. The coin features a unique design, with the effigy of a woman representing the municipality of Segarra de Gaià on one side, and the coat of arms of the province of Tarragona on the other. This coin was minted in limited quantities and was used as a means of payment in the municipality during a time of economic and political turmoil in Spain. Today, it is a rare and valuable collector's item for numismatists interested in Spanish history and coinage.
