While Kann lists the silver type as a pattern, contemporary reports indicate that that coin saw brief circulation. While Krause lists the date as ND (1915), the coin specifically says it was struck in Year 1 of Hongxian, while started in 1916.

Interesting fact

The Pattern 1 Jiao - Hongxian coin was designed by the renowned Chinese artist and designer, Luo Zhenyu, who was also known for designing other coins and banknotes during the early years of the Republic of China.
