While Kann lists this as a pattern, contemporary reports indicate that this coin saw brief circulation. While Krause lists the date as ND (1915), the coin specifically says it was struck in Year 1 of Hongxian, while started in 1916.

Interesting fact

The 1 Jiao - Hongxian (Founding of the Empire) 1 (1916) coin from Hunan Province was minted to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Qing dynasty, which was the last imperial dynasty in China. The coin features an image of the Qing dynasty's first emperor, Emperor Taizu, on one side, and the Chinese characters for "Hongxian" (meaning "founding of the empire") on the other side. It's made of silver, which was a valuable and prestigious metal at the time, and its design reflects the rich cultural heritage of China's imperial history.
