This is one of the first Luxembourgish coins with a mint year and where the mintage is known.Extremely rare piece, 5 pieces listed in 3 different collections including 3 pieces at the Royal Library Albert I of Brussels. The other two coins are in the Den Haag Coin Cabinet and the Copenhagen Museum.
Piece rarely offered for sale, a copy (that of this sheet) was sold in 2015 for more than double its price.
Variation: The legend of the law ends with a double point or a triple triangle point.
Weiller was able to observe two copies weighing 0.94 g. and 1.05 g. (Weiller, p. 118 & pl. XIX)

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the ½ Gros coin from Duchy of Luxembourg is that it features an image of Philippe I the Handsome, who was the Duke of Luxembourg from 1482 until his death in 1503. Despite his nickname, Philippe I was known for his strong leadership and diplomatic skills, which helped to strengthen the Duchy of Luxembourg during his reign.
