Interesting fact
The obverse (front) side of the coin features a portrait of the Greek goddess Athena, while the reverse (back) side features a depiction of a lion attacking a bull. This imagery was commonly used in ancient Greek coinage to symbolize the power and strength of the issuing city or kingdom. In this case, the lion and bull represent the fierce and powerful nature of the island of Kos, where the coin was minted.
