Interesting fact
The Kyzikos Stater was one of the first coins to feature an image of a mythical creature, in this case, a griffin. The griffin was a symbol of protection and strength in ancient Greek mythology, and its depiction on the coin may have been intended to convey the power and authority of the city of Kyzikos.
