Interesting fact
The Mallos Stater is considered one of the earliest coins to feature an image of a deity. The obverse side of the coin depicts a bearded Apollo, while the reverse side shows a lion's head and the mint name "MALLOS". This coin was issued during the reign of the Persian Empire, and it's believed that the image of Apollo was chosen to symbolize the city's allegiance to the Persian Empire.
