Interesting fact

The Corinthian Stater was one of the first coins to feature a depiction of a human being. The obverse side of the coin features a portrait of a bearded man, believed to be a representation of the Greek god Poseidon, who was revered as the patron deity of Corinth. This makes the Corinthian Stater one of the earliest examples of a coin featuring a human image, and marks a significant departure from the earlier ancient Greek coins that typically featured abstract designs or animal motifs.
