Interesting fact
The Sikyon Stater was one of the first coins to feature a portrait of a deity. The obverse side of the coin features a depiction of the goddess Hera, making it one of the earliest examples of a coin with a religious image. This was a significant departure from earlier coins, which typically featured abstract designs or symbols. The inclusion of a deity on the coin highlights the importance of religion in ancient Greek culture and the growing influence of coinage in the region.
