Interesting fact

The Æthelwulf Penny, minted during the reign of King Æthelwulf of Wessex (839-858), was the first English coin to feature a standardized design, with the king's name and title on one side and a cross on the other. This design became the standard for future English coins and marked the beginning of a new era in coinage.
