Comment
The Gomes catalogue has a mistake, when giving the mintage as 1,255 for the 1828 Peça. In fact, in 1828, both Peças of Pedro IV and Miguel I were minted and the ones from Miguel I were minted with a larger and smaller bust version. It is commonly estimated that 800 Peças of Pedro IV were minted with the rest split between Miguel Peça with large and smaller bust.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Standard circulation coin Peça - Pedro IV 1826-1828 from Portugal made of Gold (.9167) weighing 14.34 g is that it was minted during a time of great economic and political change in Portugal. The coin was issued during the reign of King Pedro IV, who ruled from 1826 to 1828, a period marked by the country's transition from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy. The coin's design, which features an image of the king on one side and the Portuguese coat of arms on the other, reflects this shift in power and the growing influence of liberalism in Portuguese society.
