Comment
Day et al (MEC 12, p. 291 reckon that this is the earlier type of grosso. The weight is similar to that struckin the previouos reign, and the decoration of the polylobe with leaves is the same. It is known with only two sigla, A and L, perhaps indicating it was produced for a smaller part of Philip's reign than the heaver type that followed.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features the image of Philip Maria Visconti, who was the Duke of Milan from 1412 to 1447. He was known for his military campaigns and his efforts to centralize power in Milan, which helped to establish the city as a major political and economic force in the region. The coin's design, which includes Visconti's shield, reflects his influence and importance in the region during this time period.
