Comment
The only coin of Philip the Good (who became an undertaker at the death of Elisabeth de Görlitz), struck for the duchy of Luxembourg. Other coins (double gros, gros, demi-gros, a quarter of gros and denier) prescribed by Jehan Philippe (coin master) on September 21, 1443, were never issued (Weiller, p. 110 and BV, p. 328). Undated coin first struck at the Marche-en-Famenne mint and retrospectively at the Luxembourg City mint. Very rare piece. No known variant of the reverse. Weiller mentions two different legends:
+ MOnETA⁑ nOVA⁑ LVCEnBVRGENSIS
+ MOHETA⁑ nOVA⁑ LVXEmBOREHSIS (the currency of this page)
Bernays & Vannerus do not mention any variant, Probst writes "variety of legend" without giving details.
Probst and Weiller mention the side to the coats of arms as the reverse, Bernays & Vannerus, and Vanhout the face with Saint Andrew as the obverse. The Probst / Weiller version has been taken over for this listing as their works are newer, although the B & V version seems more credible.
A gold florin was at the time between 32 to 33 1/3 gros.
5 pieces listed by Weiller, whose average weight is 3.4 g. (3.27, 3.36, 3.43, 3.47, 3.49)
Further information in Weiller (p.110) and Bernays & Vannerus (pp.326-331).

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Standard circulation coin Florin - Philip the Good ND (1443-1451) from Duchy of Luxembourg (Luxembourg) made of Gold (.792) weighing 3.4 g is that it was minted during the reign of Philip the Good, who was the Duke of Luxembourg from 1443 to 1451. During his reign, he sought to promote trade and commerce in the region, which led to the minting of this coin. The coin's design features an image of Philip the Good on one side and the Luxembourg coat of arms on the other. It is a rare and valuable coin that is highly sought after by collectors today.
