Comment

The gens Pompeia was a plebeian family, and at the same time a consular family, which appears to derive its name from the town of Pompeii in Campania. It furnished the Republic of Rome with several illustrious citizens.

This coin seems to bear twice the moneyer mark but written slightly differently.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a portrait of Quintus Pompeius Rufus, a Roman politician and military leader, on one side, and an image of Sulla, another prominent Roman leader, on the other. This coin was minted during a time of political tension and power struggles in Rome, and the inclusion of these two figures on the coin may have been a way to promote unity and stability in the Roman Republic.
