Comment
Appears to be completely unpublished and unlisted, missing from the main reference works, only to be found in MONNAIES VI, Kolsky Collection, no. 1661. Note the presence of Patey's different markings: an original coin was used, not one remade from the die. We thus know that Patey had prepared a 1907 coin, which was never used.
CGB.
As unpublished as the cupro-nickel examples, this one is, on the other hand, lighter than the latter.
The only known examples are from the Kolsky collection.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Pattern Concours de 1973, essai de 2 francs au type de la 25 centimes Patey (cupro-nickel-aluminium, léger) 1907 from France is that it was designed by French sculptor and engraver, Oscar Roty. Roty was known for his work on various French coins and medals, and his designs often featured intricate details and ornate patterns. The Pattern Concours de 1973 coin, which was never officially released into circulation, is a rare and valuable example of Roty's work.
