Comment

This coin, by Luís Filipe de Abreu, is the fourth and last in the commemorative series of the first circumnavigation voyage, carried out exactly five centuries ago. This coin commemorating the conclusion of the epic, thus completing the set. On both sides of this coin we see the ship Victoria, returning to the port with badly damaged sails, and an armillary sphere, symbol of the advances in the art of navigation, to which Magellan contributed so much.

Interesting fact

The 7½ Euros Circulating commemorative coin from Portugal, made of Silver (.500) and weighing 13.5g, has a unique feature - it has a convex shape, which means that it is thicker in the middle than at the edges. This design was chosen to represent the symbol of the Portuguese Discoveries, which is a nod to the country's rich history of exploration and discovery.
