Burial Mound of Emperor Nintoku is Japan’s largest keyhole mound, part of the Mozu-kofungun cluster of tumuli in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, was constructed between the late fourth and fifth centuries and is believed to be the tomb of Emperor Nintoku. The mound itself measures 486 m in length, and when the triple moat surrounding the mound is included the total length comes to 840 m; it is thus one of the largest graves in the world, ranking alongside the Egyptian pyramids and the mausoleum of the first Qin emperor in China. The Mozu-kofungun, along with the Furuichi-kofungun cluster of tumuli that extends into Habikino and Fujiidera to the east of Sakai, were added to the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2010.Interesting fact
