The Amur tiger is now found in the Maritime Territory of the Far East, while in the past its permanent habitat extended as far as the left bank of the River Amur. It is entered into the Red Book of the International Union for the Protection of Nature and Natural Resources. Hunting the Amur tiger has been banned in Russia since 1947.

Interesting fact

The Amur Tiger coin, minted in 1996, was the first gold coin produced by the Russian Mint. It has a diameter of 22mm and a thickness of 1.1mm, making it a relatively small coin. Despite its size, it contains 7.89 grams of .999 pure gold, making it a valuable and sought-after collector's item.
