The coin design celebrates 30 years since "A Grand Day Out" was first shown in November 1989, the film’s stars Wallace and Gromit land on the surface of a 50p coin. It has been created by Nick Park and the team at Aardman; the designers initials appear on the reverse of the coin.The silver proof coin was presented in a limited-edition Perspex block with an issue limit of 25,000. Copper-nickel and gold proof versions were also produced.

One interesting fact about the Wallace and Gromit Silver Proof 50p coin is that it features a unique design that was created by Nick Park, the creator of Wallace and Gromit.
