The design was originally released in 2007. The coin was re-issued in 2009 as part of the 16-piece set to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 50 pence denomination. It was also struck in copper-nickel, silver proof and gold proof. Issue limit: 40.©The Royal Mint, 2009
The design was used again in 2019 with the Jody Clark fifth portrait to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 50p in the Culture set.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Scouting Movement, which was founded by Robert Baden-Powell in 1908. The coin's design features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on one side and the Scouting Movement's logo, the "Fleur-de-Lis," on the other side. The coin's gold composition and piedfort (thick) strike make it a unique and valuable collector's item for coin enthusiasts and Scouting memorabilia collectors.
