Comment
The Northern Rockhopper penguin was the first released as part of the 4-coin series by the Pobjoy Mint. However it was realised the Northern Rockhopper is actually less indigenous and rarely seen on the Falkland Islands. This error was recalled by the Pobjoy Mint, however some orders were still delivered and so the coin has a much lower mintage than the rest in the series.Interesting fact
The Falkland Islands, where this coin was minted, are a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic Ocean. The coin features the Northern Rockhopper penguin, which is a species found in the Falkland Islands and is known for its distinctive crest and red eyes.
