The featured Great Pagoda at Kew was built in 1762 as a gift for Princess Augusta. Issued as part of the Annual Silver Proof sets for 2009 (2,749 sales) as well as being Issued as part of the 16-coin set (1,168 sales) to celebrate 40 years of the 50 pence denomination as well as individually (7,575 sales). This design was also struck in copper-nickel, silver piedfort, gold proof and gold piedfort. Issue limit: 20,000.©The Royal Mint, 2009
The design was reused in 2019 although it featured Jody Clark's fifth portrait and was released as part of the 5-coin British Culture Sets celebrating 50 years of the 50p.
