The United Kingdom is prominently represented at the head of the table with the table itself showing twelve stars, symbols of the European Community, place in the geographic positions of the capital cities of the twelve member countries. The coin is dual dated 1992 & 1993 and was issued in 1992 to celebrates the UK's presidency of the European Council of Ministers, and the completion of the Single Market. The coin was also issued in copper-nickel, silver piedfort and gold proof. Issue Limit: 35,000

The coin was reissued in 2009 with Ian Rank Broadley's fourth portrait as part of the 16-piece sets to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 50 pence denomination.
