Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Boaty McBoatface coin is that it was created as a result of a public vote, in which the name "Boaty McBoatface" was chosen as the winner among a list of suggested names for the ship that appears on the coin. The name was originally suggested by a former BBC presenter, James Hand, and it quickly gained popularity on social media. The coin was issued in 2019 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the discovery of the Antarctic Peninsula by British explorer Edward Bransfield.
