The '100 Years of Our BBC' 50 pence was the first coin to be released by The Royal Mint following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin continued to bear the image of The Queen, in support of His Majesty the King's ambition for a sustainable transition. This ensured minimal environmental impact as the designs, tools and packaging for these products had already been produced. The coin was issued individually and was also struck in copper-nickel, silver proof and gold proof. Issue limit: 1,110.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the BBC Centenary Silver Piedfort 50p coin is that it features a unique reverse design, created by graphic designer and BBC employee, Henry Flynn. The design incorporates the BBC's iconic globe logo, surrounded by a pattern of waves, which represent the broadcasting of radio and television signals. The coin's design is a nod to the BBC's rich history and its role in shaping the media landscape in the UK and beyond.
