Comment

This version of the silver proof with the Ian Rank-Broadley fourth portrait is only found in the full 13-coin silver proof annual sets of 2015 (298 sold) and in the 5-coin commemorative silver proof set (366 sold). As with the copper-nickel version no denomination features on the coin. This design was also struck in copper-nickel, silver piedfort and gold proof. Issue limit: 3,000

The individual issue of the coin was the later 5th portrait by Jody Clark.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Battle of Britain 50p coin is that it was released in 2015 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, a pivotal air campaign fought between the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and the German Luftwaffe during World War II. The coin's design features a Spitfire aircraft, which was a key fighter plane used by the RAF during the battle, and the inscription "Battle of Britain 1940" on the reverse side. The coin's obverse side features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
