One of the first coins to be issued under the reign of King Charles III, released on Monday October 3rd, 2022, at 9am to commemorate the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II. Due to unprecedented demand, the mintage for the Brilliant Uncirculated coin was unlimited until 31st December 2022.The coin was confirmed to have entered circulation in December 2022 with a mintage of 9.6 million to commemorate The Queen's age, which was 96 at her death.
The coin was also struck in silver proof, silver piedfort, gold proof, gold piedfort and platinum proof.
The coin was available at the Royal Mint Experience as a Strike Your Own edition 28/10/22 - 20/11/22
Interesting fact
The 50p coin commemorating Charles III's life and legacy features a unique design that includes a portrait of the Queen on one side and a portrait of Charles III on the other. This is the first time that a British coin has featured a portrait of a monarch and their heir apparent together.
